A 90-minute diagnostic (about 38% of the full exam) with five short timed tasks covering every component. It includes a Shakespeare extract response (20 min), a 19th-century novel extract response (20 min), a modern-text essay plan and opening paragraphs (15 min), an anthology comparison paragraph (15 min) and an unseen poem analysis (20 min). Each task is marked against the level descriptors and gives a predicted grade and a text-by-text priority list.

A complete AQA-style exam in two timed papers. Paper 1 (1 h 45, 64 marks) has a Shakespeare extract-to-whole question (30 + 4 SPaG) and a 19th-century novel extract-to-whole question (30). Paper 2 (2 h 15, 96 marks) has a modern-text essay with a choice of two (30 + 4 SPaG), an anthology comparison (30) and unseen poetry (24 + 8). Questions are provided for every AQA set text and cluster so you answer on your own texts, and everything is marked against the six-level descriptors.
