Here is a skeleton. It is all the bones inside a body, joined together.
The skull is at the very top. The ribs curve around the chest, like a cage.
The spine runs down the middle of the back. The leg bones are long and strong.
The spine and the leg bones hold the body up and give it its shape. This job is called support.

A skeleton has three jobs: support, protect and move.
Support: the spine and the leg bones hold us up.
Protect: the hard skull protects the soft brain. The ribs protect the heart and the lungs.
Move: where two bones meet there is a joint, like the knee. The body can bend there.
