Try a lesson now
This is “Numbers to 20” (Maths), the course’s free lesson, in full. Turn your sound on: Budlet reads it out.
How it works
Every topic follows the same three steps, so your child always knows what comes next.
1Watch
A short animated lesson for each topic. Budlet reads every line while the picture moves in step, with little “your turn” checks along the way.
What's covered
Pick a year to see what your child will meet. Each year builds on the one before.
When your child gets stuck
A wrong answer starts a short, kind loop that finds the slip and fixes it.
1. Not yet
A wrong answer is never shown in red. Budlet says “Not yet, let’s look together”.
2. Show me why
The right answer, a reason aimed at the slip your child made, and the picture worked out.
3. Try one like it
A similar question straight away, so the fix sticks. It doesn’t count towards the daily limit.
4. Training
After a few misses on a topic: the lesson taught a different way, 3 easy ones in a row, then 2 trickier ones.
Papers and scores
Your child takes papers in their Papers tab, one question per screen, with a gentle timer you can switch off. For ages 5 to 7, papers are done together with a grown-up, from the grown-ups area. They are untimed, and Budlet reads the questions out, except where reading is what the paper checks.
Results give a percentage and a band (Extending, Secure, Developing, Beginning). They are approximate: a guide, not a prediction. Every question is tapped or typed, so there is no drawing or written explaining.
Safe by design
Settings, prices and progress sit behind a grown-ups lock. Your child only ever sees lessons and games.
No ads
Nothing to buy and nothing to click away to.
No chat or social
No messages, friends lists or leaderboards.
No AI chat
Nothing is made up on the spot: every lesson and question is prepared in advance and answer-checked.

Questions
No. The IB sets no external exams, tests or certificates in the PYP; teachers assess children in school, continuously. So there is no real paper to copy. Courselo’s checkpoints are short practice quizzes with objective questions only (choose, type a number or word, order, pick several), and the percentage they give is approximate. They show which ideas are secure and which need another look, nothing more.
Plans
Your child never sees prices or upgrade buttons. A locked lesson ends with “Ask your grown-up”, and when the day’s free questions run out they see “come back tomorrow”.

Quick question games that adapt as your child answers: easier when it's new, trickier as they get it. Each topic earns up to three stars.
3Practise until secure
Tricky topics come back on later days, and a topic that needs more help gets training: a fresh way to learn it, then easy questions, then a step up.
No losing, ever
No videos
No video players, and no links out of your child’s screens.
Read aloud by Budlet
Clear British or American computer voices. No microphone or camera, and nothing of your child is recorded.
We never ask for your child’s name
A nickname, if you like, stays on your device.
What the six transdisciplinary themes, the seven key concepts, the ten learner profile attributes and the five approaches to learning mean in a child’s week, with ways to talk about them at home.

What happens in the final PYP year: choosing an issue, inquiring, taking action and sharing; what mentors and teachers do; how the school assesses it; and how to help without taking over.

Ten-minute routines for number, reading and inquiry questions; how to use the lessons, checkpoints and re-teach steps with each age band; and how to respond to a Beginning or Developing result without pressure.
Two things are reported. A checkpoint is marked as a percentage: 85 or more is Extending, 65 to 84 is Secure, 40 to 64 is Developing and below 40 is Beginning. Each topic on the map earns up to three stars: the first star for finishing the lesson or getting the first questions right, the second and third for answering harder questions correctly over time, so stars cannot be rushed and never go down. In the grown-ups area the stars are labelled Working towards, Expected and Greater depth. All of these labels are Courselo’s own; they are not IB terms and they do not predict your school’s report.
Pick the band that matches your child’s age or class: 5 to 7, 7 to 9 or 9 to 11. The 9 to 11 band includes every topic from 7 to 9 plus fractions and decimals, poetry and the exhibition. You can change the band at any time in the grown-ups area, and a child who finds a band easy can be moved up.
Each course on an account holds one learner, so progress, stars and re-teaching follow one child. Siblings need a second account, so that each child’s map stays honest.
Yes. Read-aloud uses your device’s own voice, so nothing your child hears is sent anywhere. In this course it is on by default for every age band: each new question is spoken automatically (after the first tap of the session), and a child can tap the speaker to hear a line again. A grown-up can change this to tap-to-hear. In the Reading unit the passages and the questions about them are never spoken, only the instruction, so the child does the reading. If the device has no English voice, listening and spelling questions are hidden rather than shown silently.
Courselo never asks for or shows a child’s name, and the child’s screens have no adverts, no chat, no videos and no AI. Every lesson, picture and question was written and checked in advance. Grown-up settings and reports sit behind the grown-ups area.
PYP schools are in 127 or more countries (IB figure, September 2023), so there is no single currency or spelling. Money questions use tokens rather than pounds, dollars or euros, so the maths is the same for everyone. Lessons use international English with British spellings (colour, metre), and typed answers accept the common US spellings too. Measurements are metric.
Yes. The IB’s framework document is PYP: From principles into practice (2018). Schools organise maths, language and science in phases rather than years, and the ideas children learn (place value, fractions, phonics, inference, living things and so on) are the same whichever version of the subject documents a school uses. This course follows those ideas, grouped by age band. The facts in it were last checked in October 2026.
