Legal
Terms and conditions.
The agreement between you and the company that runs Courselo, in plain language: your account, Pro and renewal, cancelling and refunds, fair use, and your legal rights.
Last updated 1 Oct 2026
1.About these terms
These terms are the agreement between you and TechMasons LTD (“we”, “us”), the company that runs Courselo. We are registered in England and Wales (company number 14843665), and our registered office is 643 Stratford Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham, B11 4DY, United Kingdom. You can reach us at hello@courselo.org.
They apply when you use the Courselo website. By creating an account you agree to them, so please read them. Our privacy policy explains how we use your personal data, and our refunds and cancellation policy explains cancelling and refunds in full; it forms part of these terms.
Courselo is for individuals preparing for exams for themselves. These terms are written for consumers and nothing in them takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
2.Your account
- You must be 13 or older to have an account. If you’re under 18, you need your parent or guardian’s permission to use Courselo, and they must agree to these terms with you.
- Some exams on Courselo, such as the 11+, are taken before the age of 13. Those courses are for a parent, guardian or teacher to use with the child, from the adult’s own account.
- Give your real email address, so we can reach you about your account and payments.
- An account is for one person. Don’t share it.
- Keep your sign-in details private. You’re responsible for what happens in your account unless it wasn’t your fault, so tell us at hello@courselo.org straight away if you think someone else has used it.
3.What Courselo provides
Courselo prepares you for exams with lessons, strategy guides, practice questions, mock exams, AI grading of essays and speaking, an AI tutor, a study plan and predicted scores.
- The free plan includes every lesson and strategy guide, with limits on the rest (40 practice questions a day, the diagnostic plus 1 full mock exam per exam, 3 AI gradings a week and 10 tutor messages a day). The current limits are always on the pricing page.
- Pro is a paid subscription that removes those limits, for every exam on Courselo.
We keep improving Courselo, so lessons, questions and features change over time, and we add and update exams as their formats change. We won’t take away a main part of Pro while you’re paying for it. If we ever have to, we’ll tell you in advance and you can cancel and get a refund for the time you haven’t used.
We work to keep Courselo running at all times, but it may occasionally be unavailable, for example during maintenance or because of a problem with a provider we rely on. We’ll restore it as quickly as we reasonably can.
4.Pro: price, payment and renewal
- Price. Pro is billed monthly or yearly. The price, the billing period and the currency are shown on the pricing page and again at checkout before you pay. The price you see is the full price; nothing is added at checkout. We are not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged. Your bank may charge a fee to convert the currency.
- How you subscribe. Choose monthly or yearly on the pricing page and press Upgrade to Pro. You then enter your details on the secure page of our payment provider, Stripe, where you can check and correct them before you press Subscribe, which places your order. We email you a confirmation with your subscription terms, and these terms stay on this page, with the date they last changed. The contract is in English.
- Payment. Payments are taken by our payment provider, Stripe, from the card you give at checkout. Your subscription starts as soon as the first payment goes through, and we email you a confirmation with the key terms.
- Renewal. Pro renews automatically at the end of each month or year, and we charge your card for the next period, until you cancel. We email you 30 and 7 days before each yearly renewal, and a receipt every time you’re charged.
- Price changes. If the price of Pro changes, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it applies to you. A new price only ever starts at your next renewal, never in the middle of a period you’ve paid for, and you can cancel before it applies.
- Changing plan. To switch between monthly and yearly, use Manage subscription in your account or email us. You’ll see what you’ll be charged, including any credit for time already paid, before anything changes.
- If a payment fails, Stripe tries again over the next few days, Pro stays on meanwhile, and your account page tells you to update your card. If it still can’t be taken, your account moves to the free plan; nothing you’ve done is lost.
- Under 18? A parent or guardian must make the purchase, or agree to it, and is responsible for the payments.
5.Cancelling and refunds
- Cancel any time from Manage subscription in your account, or by emailing hello@courselo.org. There’s no fee. Pro stays active until the end of the period you’ve paid for, then your account moves to the free plan with your progress kept.
- Full refund within 14 days. If you cancel within 14 days of your first payment, we refund it in full, even though you can use Pro straight away: that is your legal right to cancel. We also give the same full refund within 14 days of each yearly renewal and of switching to the yearly plan, which goes beyond what the law requires. Use “Cancel and refund” on your account page or email us.
- Monthly renewals are not refunded once the month has started, but you can cancel at any time to stop the next one.
- Deleting your account cancels Pro straight away. A payment still inside its 14-day refund window (your first payment, a yearly renewal or a switch to yearly) is refunded in full; otherwise the time left isn’t, so if you want to keep Pro to the end of your period, cancel renewal first and delete your account later.
Our refunds and cancellation policy has the details, your legal right to cancel and the model cancellation form.
6.Using Courselo fairly
Use Courselo to prepare for exams yourself. Please don’t:
- share your account, or copy, resell or publish lessons, questions, mock exams or other content;
- scrape or download content in bulk, use bots, overload the service, or try to get around plan limits or security;
- use Courselo to cheat in a real exam or assessment, or submit someone else’s work as yours;
- upload or write anything unlawful, harmful, hateful or abusive, or that you don’t have the right to share, including in tutor conversations;
- try to make the AI produce harmful content, or misuse it in any way that breaks the law.
7.Your work and our content
Your work stays yours. Essays, answers, recordings and messages you submit belong to you. You allow us to store and process them only to provide Courselo to you: to grade them, show you feedback and keep your progress. We don’t show them to anyone else, and we don’t use them to train AI.
Our content. Lessons, questions, explanations, mock exams and the rest of Courselo belong to us or the people we license them from. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for your own study while you have an account.
Exam names. Courselo is independent. Exam names and logos are trademarks of their owners, none of which sponsors, endorses or is affiliated with Courselo. Our courses follow the published specifications and are checked against official sources, but the exam owner’s own materials are always the final word.
8.AI features
Some lessons, questions and mock exams are written by AI from an exam’s official specification and checked automatically before you see them; they are labelled as AI-generated. AI also grades essays and speaking, answers your questions in the tutor, explains mistakes, and voices listening recordings. The voices are AI-generated, not real people.
AI can make mistakes. AI grades are estimates of how an examiner might mark your work, not official scores. If a grade or anything else looks wrong, tell us at hello@courselo.org: a person will review it and reply, and we fix content that is wrong.
9.Predicted scores
Predicted scores are estimates based on your answers on Courselo, always shown with a likely range. They help you plan, but they are not a promise of any result in a real exam: your result depends on many things we don’t control, including the exam itself, the day, and the work you put in.
10.Videos from YouTube
Some pages show videos from YouTube, found through YouTube API Services and chosen automatically for the exam or topic. They belong to their channels, not to us, and we don’t control what they say. By watching them on Courselo you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service.
11.Your legal rights, and our responsibility to you
We provide Courselo with reasonable care and skill, and its content is meant to match what we describe. If it doesn’t, you have rights under consumer law: we’ll fix the problem, and if we can’t, you’re entitled to a price reduction or a refund. For more on your rights, contact Citizens Advice (England and Wales), Advice Direct Scotland or Consumerline (Northern Ireland). Nothing in these terms affects these rights.
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss that wasn’t foreseeable, for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, or for business losses, because Courselo is for personal use.
We are not responsible for exam results or decisions made by schools, universities, employers or exam boards. If our content ever damaged your device or other content because we didn’t use reasonable care, we’ll repair the damage or compensate you.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
12.Closing accounts
You can stop using Courselo at any time, and delete your account and your data from your account page.
We may suspend or close an account only if it seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms (for example cheating, sharing accounts, scraping or abuse), if we suspect fraud, or if the law requires it. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right. If we close an account that has paid for Pro, other than for a serious breach, we’ll refund the time not used.
If we ever stop running Courselo, we’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice, refund any Pro time you’ve paid for but can’t use, and give you the chance to download your data.
13.Changes to these terms
We may change these terms to reflect changes in the law, in how Courselo works, in the services we rely on, or to make them clearer. If a change matters to you, we’ll email you at least 30 days before it takes effect and explain it. If you don’t accept it, you can cancel before it applies, and we’ll refund any Pro time you’ve paid for but not used. The date at the top shows when these terms last changed.
14.Complaints and disputes
If something goes wrong, email hello@courselo.org. We aim to reply within 2 working days and to resolve complaints within 14 days. If we can’t agree, we are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme, but you can get free advice from Citizens Advice, and you can take a claim to court (often the small claims track).
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring court proceedings in the part of the UK where you live, or in England and Wales. If you live elsewhere, you keep the protection of the consumer laws of the country you live in, and you can use its courts.
15.Other things you should know
- We may transfer this agreement to another organisation (for example if Courselo is sold). We’ll tell you, and your rights under these terms won’t be affected. You may not transfer your account to someone else.
- Nobody else has rights under this agreement.
- If a court decides part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
- If we don’t enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
