7 guides beyond the syllabus: strategy, test day, scoring and section guide.
Strategy
Where the top band is won: flawless spelling and grammatical cueing in Read and Complete and Listen and Type, zero false positives in Read and Select, exact spans in Highlight the Answer, pragmatic accuracy in Listen and Respond, and the content, range and delivery upgrades that move every writing and speaking response to the 155–160 level. Includes a week-by-week plan.
Test day
Computer, webcam, microphone and speaker checks, ID, room and lighting, what the proctors look for (no headphones, notes or other people; face and ears visible; eyes on the screen), what makes a result uncertified, how the one-hour session runs, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Scoring
How right-or-wrong, partial-credit and rubric-scored questions feed the four individual subscores, why the overall score is their average, how the integrated subscores are derived, the CEFR alignment, the IELTS and TOEFL concordance, and how Courselo mock results map to DET scores.
Section guide
A gap-by-gap method for Read and Complete (letter counts, grammatical frames, collocations), a 5-second decision routine for Read and Select, a 20-second routine for Fill in the Blanks, and a timing plan for the six Interactive Reading questions, including how to highlight a minimal answer span.
Section guide
The three-play method for Listen and Type with a checklist for endings and function words, note-taking for Listen and Complete, the distractor patterns in Listen and Respond replies, and how to keep what you hear ready for the 75-second summary.
Section guide
One-minute photo description formulas, a four-sentence summary frame, a 5 + 3 minute Interactive Writing routine (position, reason, example, follow-up extension), how to make the Writing Sample admissions-ready, and the error checklist that separates 130 from 155+.
