Read and Complete: restoring missing letters in a paragraph

By the end you’ll be able to

• Use the intact opening sentence to identify the topic, time frame and register before filling any gap
• Apply the deletion pattern: in the damaged sentences every other word keeps only its first half, and the number of blank spaces shows exactly how many letters are missing
• Use grammatical cues (articles, auxiliaries, subject–verb agreement, prepositions, the required part of speech) to decide the form and ending of each word
