Partial derivatives, gradients and tangent planes

By the end you’ll be able to

• Compute first, higher-order and mixed partial derivatives and apply Clairaut’s theorem on equality of mixed partials
• Apply the multivariable chain rule and implicit differentiation for functions of several variables
• Use the gradient to find directional derivatives, the direction and rate of steepest ascent and normal vectors to level curves and surfaces
