Scoring Mechanics and Target Benchmarks
The AP Psychology exam is taken entirely in the digital Bluebook app and splits into two timed sections: Section I (75 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes, worth 66.7%) and Section II (2 free-response questions in 70 minutes, worth 33.3%).
Your composite percentage () is estimated using this formula:
Each free-response point on the Article Analysis Question (AAQ) or Evidence-Based Question (EBQ) is worth approximately of the total exam score—equivalent to getting roughly multiple-choice questions right. Because College Board sets exact cut scores through post-exam equating, use these estimated raw benchmarks to track your progress across practice tests:
| AP Score | Estimated Composite () | Target MCQ (out of 75) | Target AAQ (out of 7) | Target EBQ (out of 7) |
