The format, as published
- A computer-based test on department computers, all multiple choice except writing, with four sections each weighted 25%: Reading (17 questions, 3 multi-part, 45 min), Mathematical Reasoning (35 Q, 40 min, no calculator), Thinking Skills (40 Q, 40 min) and Writing (1 task, 30 min).
- It draws on NSW curriculum up to Year 6.
- The test runs in May (1–2 May 2026 for 2027 entry, make-up 22 May 2026) and from 2026 is held only in NSW.
