- 11 item sets (4 multiple-choice questions, 3 points each) plus 11 essay/constructed-response sets (12 points per set), of which 1 item set and 1 essay set are unscored trial sets; two sessions of 2 hours 12 minutes (4 h 24 min total), typed on computer at Prometric.
- Common core 65–70% (Asset Allocation 15–20%, Portfolio Construction 15–20%, Derivatives and Risk Management 10–15%, Ethics 10–15%, Performance Measurement 5–10%) plus the chosen pathway 30–35%, examined in both item-set and essay formats.
