The format, as published
- The centraal examen (CE) tests reading comprehension (leesvaardigheid) with multiple-choice and open questions on authentic texts: havo and vwo on paper, 150 minutes; vmbo GL/TL on paper, 120 minutes; vmbo BB/KB digital (Facet) within a flexible exam window.
- The CE counts 50% of the final grade.
- The school exam (SE) covers listening, speaking, writing and, for havo/vwo, literature.
- Grades 1–10.
