The format, as published
- Two specifications: T2 for English-medium schools and T1 for Irish-medium schools (Gaelscoileanna/Gaeltacht).
- Each is set at Higher and Ordinary level, with a written exam of about 2 hours that includes an aural section.
- CBAs are oral and written-portfolio based.
- Graded Distinction (85–100) / Higher Merit (70–84) / Merit (55–69) / Achieved (40–54) / Partially Achieved (20–39) / Not Graded, on the band scale in use since June 2025.
