Project life cycles, development approaches and process groups

By the end you’ll be able to

• Distinguish predictive, iterative, incremental, adaptive (agile) and hybrid life cycles and development approaches
• Relate project phases, phase gates and the five process groups (initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, closing) to a life cycle
• Identify factors that favour a predictive or an adaptive approach (requirements certainty, rate of change, risk, stakeholder involvement, regulatory needs)
