Score Targets and the 10-Week Blueprint
The AP Statistics exam is a 3-hour digital exam in Bluebook, split evenly between Section I (42 multiple-choice questions in 90 minutes) and Section II (four 10-point free-response questions in 90 minutes). Because each free-response question is worth 12.5% of your total exam score—and each individual FRQ point is worth of the composite—your study plan must balance conceptual fluency with strict, analytic free-response execution.
Courselo computes your composite fraction as:
College Board has not published official cut points for the revised exam, so use Courselo’s conservative target estimates to benchmark your mock exams:
| Target Score | Estimated Composite () | Benchmark Equivalent (MCQ + FRQ) | Strategic Cushion Target |
|---|---|---|---|
| 5 (Top Marks) | 30/42 MCQ + 28/40 FRQ | 78% (33/42 MCQ + 31/40 FRQ) | |
| 4 (Strong Credit) | 24/42 MCQ + 23/40 FRQ | 63% (27/42 MCQ + 25/40 FRQ) | |
Week-by-Week Schedule (6.5 Hours/Week)
This 10-week schedule builds mastery in the exact sequence of the five CED units while introducing the four fixed Section II question types as soon as you have the tools to answer them. If you are starting earlier, stretch Weeks 1–8 across two weeks each; if you have 5 weeks left, double the weekly hours and combine adjacent weeks.
